Football Recap: East Burke Falls Despite Big Games from Ossie Burkeen and Carter Bennett

East Burke was the 30-14 winner over Foard when they last played one another back in April of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Cavaliers fell 26-18 to the Tigers on Friday.

East Burke's loss came despite strong showings from Carter Bennett and Ossie Burkeen. Bennett rushed for 97 yards on only 12 carries, while Burkeen rushed for 86 yards and two scores.

East Burke's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Foard, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Burke will welcome Freedom at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Foard, they will take on West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
