Basketball Recap: West Lauderdale Knights vs. Northeast Lauderdale Trojans
After flying high against Raleigh last Saturday, West Lauderdale came back down to earth. The West Lauderdale Knights lost 51-30 to the Northeast Lauderdale Trojans on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Trojans are ranked 37th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeast Lauderdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jalei Bolton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Bolton a new career-high in boards. Jakayla Grace was another key player, putting up six points and eight steals.
West Lauderdale has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Northeast Lauderdale, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5.
West Lauderdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-49 loss against Pisgah on the 16th. Northeast Lauderdale has also already played their next contest (against Choctaw Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
