Softball Recap: Tallmadge's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Tallmadge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over the Highland Hornets. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Larissa Taylor made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tallmadge got a massive performance out of Sophia Paonessa, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Paonessa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Almond, who went 3-for-6 with four RBI and one run.

The victory (which was Tallmadge's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Highland will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Brecksville-Broadview Heights at 5:00 p.m. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bees have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season. Tallmadge will be paying especially close attention to Highland's contest: after Highland faces off against Brecksville-Broadview Heights, they'll take on Tallmadge again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
