Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for West County

West County won the last time they faced Scott City and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rams a 4-0 shutout. The four-run effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The result came thanks to Grace Lynch's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Madison Vogelpohl was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Milly Ketcherside, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for West County and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Scott City, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Clearwater at 4:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Scott City, they will take on Bernie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
