Preview: Athenian Owls vs. San Domenico Panthers
After four games on the road, Athenian is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the San Domenico Panthers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Athenian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Athenian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 76-50 margin over Swett. Athenian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Athenian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Lucas led the charge by scoring 16 points. The match was Lucas' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Noah Olivier was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, San Domenico's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tamalpais. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Athenian pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for San Domenico, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
