La Conner had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Orcas Island on Thursday. The Braves blew past the Vikings 3-0. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 3-0 victory two weeks ago.

While La Conner won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-19, 25-23.

Maeve McCormick paced La Conner's offense, picking up 12 kills. McCormick got some help from Reese Bird and her 16 assists. McCormick was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

La Conner has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. As for Orcas Island, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 9-11 record.
