Baseball Recap: Harmony Area Comes Up Short

Harmony Area had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 5-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels, falling 24-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 18-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Moshannon Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Moshannon Valley's part, Brady Kephart made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Kephart has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Abernethy was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Valent Cervenak, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Moshannon Valley beat Harmony Area by a score of 22-0 on Tuesday.
