Softball Recap: Weiser Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Weiser won the last time they faced Payette and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 8-1 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Madi Janicek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alli Navarrete, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sophia Shirts also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Weiser, bringing their record up to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Payette, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weiser will host New Plymouth at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Payette, they will welcome Fruitland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
