Preview: Highland Park Hornets vs. Bovina Mustangs
Highland Park has been on the road for 11 straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Bovina Mustangs at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Bovina took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Highland Park, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Highland Park didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Boys Ranch, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win. The victory was just what Highland Park needed coming off of a 63-37 defeat in their prior game.
Bovina suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Panhandle 69-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bovina in their matchups with Panhandle: they've now lost seven in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Miguel Lopez, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Yandel Deleon was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Highland Park's victory bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Bovina, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.
Highland Park was dealt a bruising 54-26 defeat at the hands of Bovina when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Highland Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
