Baseball Recap: Cliffside Park Comes Up Short

Cliffside Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Mary Gaels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Raiders of the 14-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Kayden Moeller made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Cliffside Park: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise.

Cliffside Park's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for St. Mary, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8-1.

Looking ahead, Cliffside Park will square off against Wood-Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Mary, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glen Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gaels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
