Baseball Recap: Shelbyville Takes a Loss

Shelbyville managed to slip by Mt. Vernon the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Golden Bears lost 12-2 to the Marauders on Tuesday. The Golden Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Marauders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Dalton Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.

Shelbyville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mt. Vernon, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Marauders beat Shelbyville by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday.
