Baseball Game Preview: Dodge City Demons vs. Hays Indians

Dodge City is 1-9 against Hays since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Demons will be playing at home against the Indians at 6:30 p.m. Dodge City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Dodge City was able to grind out a solid victory over Salina Central, taking the game 7-3.

The team relied heavily on Max Gonzales, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elijah Weber, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hays, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Great Bend on Tuesday by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hays now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Dodge City, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Dodge City suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Hays in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
