Volleyball Recap: Franklin Community Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Lincoln-Way East

Franklin Community is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Lincoln-Way East. The Grizzly Cubs fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 2-1. The Grizzly Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chase Alyea paced Franklin Community's offense, picking up 16 kills. Alyea got some help from Jesse Kaster and his 25 assists. Jackson Clements controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Lincoln-Way East was led to victory by Madan Sundaram and Will Hubatch. Sundaram had seven digs and three aces, while Hubatch had nine assists and four digs. That's the most digs Hubatch has posted over his last six matchups. Nate Rizzo also deserves some recognition as he had his first dig of the season.

Franklin Community's defeat dropped their record down to 19-12. As for Lincoln-Way East, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Franklin Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Southport on the 10th. As for Lincoln-Way East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Westfield on the 10th.
