Volleyball Recap: Scott Beavers vs. Cimarron Bluejays

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Scott and Cimarron, and Cimarron kept the tradition alive. The Beavers fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. If the Beavers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Bluejays when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Scott sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 16-25, 25-21.

Peyton Gentry paced Scott's offense, picking up 18 kills. Gentry got some help from Kinleigh Wren and her 32 assists. Lily Lightner controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Cimarron's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lyndi Johnson, who had 15 digs. Those 15 digs gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynlee Frink, who had 15 digs.

Scott's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Cimarron, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coincidentally, Scott and Cimarron will both be playing Holcomb the next time they take the court. The Beavers will head out to face the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bluejays will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
