Softball Recap: Rootstown Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cardinal Mooney

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rootstown). They blew past the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals 21-15 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rovers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.

The win made it two in a row for Rootstown and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Mooney, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rootstown will head out to challenge Lake Center Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rovers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tiger have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Cardinal Mooney, they are taking a road trip to face off against Ursuline at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
