Softball Preview: Crossroads Roadrunners vs. Oakwood Owls
Crossroads is 0-4 against Oakwood since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Jiselle Frerichs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Frerichs was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Crossroads let Della Polk and Devyn Rogers loose on the outfield. Polk went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Rogers scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Anayeli Medina was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Oakwood's offense. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 19-0 walloping at the hands of Viewpoint back in March. Oakwood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Crossroads pushed their record up to 5-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.7 runs per game. As for Oakwood, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
