Hayfield and South Lakes are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Hayfield Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the South Lakes Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.

Hayfield heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They fell 61-53 to Woodson. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Despite their defeat, Hayfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaylen Lemon, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points and five boards, was perhaps the best of all. Lemon is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Cage, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, South Lakes faced Westfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. South Lakes strolled past Westfield with points to spare, taking the game 67-51. The victory was familiar territory for the Seahawks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Hayfield's loss dropped their record down to 23-6. As for South Lakes, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.

Hayfield strolled past South Lakes in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 66-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hayfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
