Recap: Dundalk Owls vs. Loch Raven Raiders

The Dundalk Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 50-28 walloping at the hands of Loch Raven. While losing is never fun, Dundalk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Loch Raven is ranked 46th).

Loch Raven can attribute much of their success to Morgan Jones, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Jones grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Meona Boykin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Dundalk bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Loch Raven, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dundalk will face off against Franklin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Loch Raven will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Milford Mill Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th.
