Basketball Recap: Geneva County Takes a Loss

Geneva County came up into this matchup off a tough 20-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Samson Tigers by a score of 71-68 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since December 27, 2023.

Samson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Lamb out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards. Another player making a difference was Kelin Hornsby, who went 9 of 19 en route to 24 points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Geneva County and nudges their season record down to 5-14. As for Samson, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-14 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Geneva County will welcome Providence Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Providence Christian will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Geneva County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Samson, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Samson Tigers duke it out with the Houston County Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
