Softball Recap: Mart Extends Winning Streak to Four

With a playoff win on the line, Mart rose to the challenge on Saturday. They never let the Hico Tigers get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 on Wednesday.

The result came thanks to Harley Desmuke's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lexi Sheffield was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Arnett, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

The victory (which was Mart's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hico, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Mart will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
