Softball Game Preview: Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds vs. Beechwood Tigers

The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds will head out to challenge the Beechwood Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Newport Central Catholic has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Newport Central Catholic is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Highlands on Wednesday. They lost 18-0 to the Bluebirds. The Thoroughbreds have struggled against the Bluebirds recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Beechwood entered their tilt with Bellevue on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on Bellevue with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering Beechwood has won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Newport Central Catholic now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Beechwood, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
