Softball Recap: Reedy Beats Lone Star for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Reedy came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Lone Star Rangers by a score of 14-9. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 9-6 victory the Rangers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Reedy got a massive performance out of Paige Sommers, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Sommers has posted since back in March of 2024. Abby Jackson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Sommers wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Reedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Reedy pushed their record up to 7-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Lone Star, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6-1.

Reedy and Lone Star should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Reedy will take on Newman Smith on Monday up 769 places (318 vs. 1087). Reedy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. Meanwhile, Lone Star (ranked 233rd) will meet Turner (ranked 716th) at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
