Softball Recap: Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats vs. Orangeburg Prep Indians

Laurence Manning Academy was the 12-2 winner over Orangeburg Prep when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Orangeburg Prep Indians on Tuesday. For Orangeburg Prep's part, Payton Schurlknight was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Schurlknight has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Schurlknight was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
