Recap: Victoria West Warriors vs. Victoria East Titans
The Victoria West Warriors were the 33-23 winner over the Victoria East Titans when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Victoria West falling 42-24. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Victoria West lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Kamauri Montgomery. Despite the final result, he rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Montgomery hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games. Camden Repper was another key contributor, rushing for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Victoria East's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kason Kolle, who rushed for 68 yards and four touchdowns. Braylon Vasquez made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Victoria West now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Victoria East, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Victoria West will face off against Southside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Victoria West likes a good challenge. As for Victoria East, they will face off against Medina Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Medina Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 761st, while Victoria East is ranked 371st).
