Basketball Recap: Winter Park Takes a Loss

Winter Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the Nolensville Knights 63-14. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 260th in Florida, while the Knights are ranked 27th in Tennessee).

Calista Rand was Winter Park's leading scorer, having posted six points. Ariel Lynn Pham held things down on the boards with four rebounds. Maya Snodgrass took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

It was another big night for Nyla Johnson, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 14 points and six steals for Nolensville. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilani Washington, who posted ten points.

Winter Park now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Nolensville, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Winter Park and Dickson County will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Nolensville, they will look to defend their home court on January 3, 2025 against Siegel at 6:00 p.m. Nolensville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.
