Basketball Recap: Milford's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the Milford Tigers strolled past the El Capitan Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 81-62. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 61st in Utah, while the Eagles are ranked 263rd in Arizona), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sadler Barnes was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine assists. The matchup was his 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carson Cheney, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Milford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Milford's victory bumped their record up to 17-3. As for El Capitan, they moved to 12-12 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Milford will be playing in front of their home fans against Escalante at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Escalante is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. El Capitan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
