Basketball Recap: Ollie Higgins Key Part of a Team Effort in Witches Win

Brewer won the last time they faced Bangor and things went their way on Friday too. The Brewer Witches came out on top against the Bangor Rams by a score of 62-50. Given the Witches' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Rams are ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brewer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ollie Higgins, who went 7 of 8 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Higgins a new career-high in shooting accuracy (88%). Another player making a difference was Steven Youngs, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points and seven boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Brewer and bumps their season record up to 15-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points over those games. As for Bangor, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Coming up, Brewer will take on Mt. Blue at 4:00 p.m. on February 15th. Brewer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. Bangor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
