Basketball Game Preview: Garinger Wildcats vs. West Charlotte Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Garinger Wildcats challenge the West Charlotte Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday... Garinger is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Garinger is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Statesville on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Garinger was outmatched by Statesville and fell 54-27. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-9.

Meanwhile, West Charlotte hadn't done well against Berry recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. West Charlotte blew past Berry 59-34. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

West Charlotte's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Garinger, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Garinger beat West Charlotte 45-36 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Garinger since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
