Basketball Recap: East Burke's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

East Burke and North Wilkes squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but East Burke had to settle for second. They lost 60-36 to the North Wilkes Vikings. The contest marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, East Burke still got an impressive performance from Kara Brinkley, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Brinkley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last four games she's played. Braelyn Stilwell was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and three steals.

North Wilkes got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Meredith Tomko out in front who posted 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralee Bare, who scored 13 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds.

East Burke's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 30-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points over those games. As for North Wilkes, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 30-1.

East Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Wilkes, they have already played their next match, a 43-33 defeat against Southeast Alamance on the 15th.
