 Mid Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  3-1  victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders. That's more bragging rights for Mid Valley, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
  Ava Hazelton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Parker Bennett was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Chiara Zavislak, who  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4.
 On Holy Cross' side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in:  Ava Schmidt gave up only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
 At the plate, Holy Cross saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Mia Galella, who  went 2-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Holy Cross  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 Mid Valley pushed their record up to 7-1 with that  win, which was their fifth straight  on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 9.8 runs per game. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mid Valley will take on Riverside at 7:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Mid Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9  runs per game  this season, so Riverside's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Holy Cross, they will look to defend their home field  on Wednesday against Honesdale at 4:30  p.m. Holy Cross is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.6  runs per game  this season.
