Basketball Game Preview: Lake Weir Hurricanes vs. Forest Wildcats

Lake Weir is 1-9 against Forest since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Lake Weir Hurricanes will jump right back in to play the Forest Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Lake Weir is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.

Lake Weir is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Dunnellon 71-56 on Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Weir to victory, but perhaps none more so than Antonio Jackson, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Amar Young, who posted 16 points and three steals.

Lake Weir smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Forest entered their contest against Sarasota on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Forest lost to Sarasota at home by a 64-45 margin.

Lake Weir is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Forest, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4.

Lake Weir might still be hurting after the 73-50 defeat they got from Forest in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Lake Weir avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
