Basketball Recap: Jamier Johnston Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Flanagan

Cooper City won the last time they faced Flanagan and things went their way on Monday too. The Cooper City Cowboys took down the Flanagan Falcons 83-66. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Falcons are ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cooper City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamier Johnston, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Johnston has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Steven Loebl was another key player, putting up 16 points and five steals.

Despite the loss, Flanagan had strong showings from Jason Carias, who posted 26 points, and Dominic Carias, who earned 16 points.

Cooper City has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Flanagan, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14.

Coincidentally, Cooper City and Flanagan will both be playing South Broward the next time they take the court. Flanagan will host South Broward at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cooper City will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
