            Basketball Recap: Saginaw Trojans vs. Powers Catholic Chargers        
        
		
        
        
            Saginaw was the  66-56 winner over Powers Catholic when they last played one another  back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Saginaw Trojans fell  72-63 to the Powers Catholic Chargers on Friday.
 Powers Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Javontae Ross led the charge by  dropping  a double-double on 16 points and 14  assists. With that strong performance,  Ross is now averaging an impressive 8.7  assists per game.  Dempsey Cull was another key player,  going 8 for 14  en route to 22  points.
Saginaw's defeat was  their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Powers Catholic, the  victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saginaw will have a little extra prep time after the  loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hamady at 7:00  p.m.  on February 7th. As for Powers Catholic, they will head out to  face off against Central  at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Powers Catholic knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Central likes a good challenge.
