Basketball Recap: Sierra Grande Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Eneria Quintana and Jaylyn Quezada

If Sierra Grande was feeling good fresh off their 72-43 takedown of Primero last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sierra Grande Panthers fell 44-32 to the Del Norte Tigers on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Sierra Grande's loss came despite strong showings from Jaylyn Quezada and Eneria Quintana. Quezada went 7-for-14 to rack up 15 points and three steals, while Quintana posted eight points along with six boards and four steals. Quezada is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Sierra Grande's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-9. As for Del Norte, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

Coming up, Sierra Grande will welcome Trinidad at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Norte does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
