Baseball Game Preview: Unioto Shermans vs. Paint Valley Bearcats

Unioto has gone a perfect 10-0 against Paint Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Shermans are taking a road trip to take on the Bearcats at 5:15 p.m. Unioto is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Unioto's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Piketon as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Shermans have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

KB Perkins made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last nine contests.

In other batting news, Keegan Snyder was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Zickafoose, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Paint Valley posted their closest victory since April 15, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Westfall 7-6.

Unioto is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Paint Valley's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9-1.

Unioto beat Paint Valley 3-0 in their previous meeting on April 7th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shermans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
