Basketball Game Preview: Gibson Southern Titans vs. Princeton Tigers

Gibson Southern is 1-9 against Princeton since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gibson Southern Titans will challenge the Princeton Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Gibson Southern will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Gibson Southern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Jasper by a score of 54-47.

Brodey Lamb was his usual excellent self, shooting 54% from the field to rack up 22 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cam Novotny, who posted nine points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Princeton came tearing into last Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 63-52 win over the Patriots. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Patriots are ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Princeton's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Gibson Southern, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.

Gibson Southern and Princeton were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but Gibson Southern came up empty-handed after a 45-44 defeat. Can Gibson Southern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
