Recap: Jonathan Alder Pioneers vs. River Valley Vikings
Even though the River Valley Vikings scored an imposing 71 points on Tuesday, the Jonathan Alder Pioneers still came out on top. Jonathan Alder secured a 77-71 W over River Valley. This was payback for Jonathan Alder, who suffered a 61-43 loss the last time these two teams met.
River Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Smith, who scored 27 points along with three steals. The match was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Kenney, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Jonathan Alder's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for River Valley, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jonathan Alder will square off against London at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (London is ranked 223rd, while Jonathan Alder is ranked 225th). As for River Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Marion Harding at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Marion Harding and River Valley are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
