Recap: Cy-Fair Bobcats vs. Memorial Mustangs
The Cy-Fair Bobcats entered their tilt with the Memorial Mustangs with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Cy-Fair came out on top against Memorial by a score of 27-17 on Saturday. Given Cy-Fair's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Memorial is ranked 571st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cy-Fair's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Carter, who picked up 133 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Trey Owens, who threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Memorial still got an impressive performance from William Van wie, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Memorial's defense sure didn't make it easy: Cy-Fair's QB was sacked four times before it was all said and done. Cy-Fair's QB won't forget Isaac Richardson anytime soon given Richardson sacked him twice.
Cy-Fair's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.11 points. As for Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.
Cy-Fair will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Bellaire at 7:00 p.m. As for Memorial, they will square off against Heights at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Memorial likes a good challenge.
