Preview: Altamont Knights vs. Cornerstone Eagles

Altamont has been on the road for three straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Cornerstone Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Altamont came up short against Pelham and fell 55-44. While losing is never fun, Altamont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Pelham is ranked 62nd).

Meanwhile, Cornerstone was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 59-53 to Westminster School at Oak Mountain.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jacob May, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jermaine Holder, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Altamont now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Cornerstone, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Altamont came up short against Cornerstone in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 64-56. Thankfully for Altamont, Mekhi Fitts (who almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 28 rebounds, and nine blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
