Baseball Recap: Deer Creek-Mackinaw Takes a Loss

Deer Creek-Mackinaw was the 6-3 winner over LeRoy when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chiefs took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Wednesday.

Drew Swadinsky and Parker Eggenberger stepped up to the plate in a big way. Swadinsky went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, while Eggenberger went 3-for-5 with two runs and two doubles. Deer Creek-Mackinaw is 2-1 when Swadinsky posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chuck Hathaway, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Deer Creek-Mackinaw's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for LeRoy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

Coming up, Deer Creek-Mackinaw will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fisher at 4:30 p.m. The Chiefs are facing the Bunnies at the right time seeing as the Bunnies are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for LeRoy, they are taking a road trip to challenge El Paso-Gridley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
