Volleyball Recap: Sacred Heart Starts Season with Win Against Marshall

Sacred Heart gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Marshall Owls with a sharp 3-0 win. The Gremlins haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Sacred Heart was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-9, 25-16.

Sacred Heart's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Figge led the charge by getting ten kills, five aces, and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Judd, who had 18 assists and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Sacred Heart was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Coming up, Sacred Heart will take on Crest Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marshall, they will face off against Kirksville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
