Basketball Game Preview: Waterloo Pirates vs. Marshall Cardinals

Waterloo is 0-10 against Marshall since February of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Waterloo Pirates will be playing at home against the Marshall Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.

Waterloo is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They took a blow against Lodi, falling 108-53. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 110th).

Meanwhile, Marshall had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They strolled past the Cardinals with points to spare, taking the game 78-59.

Marshall is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.0 points per game. As for Waterloo, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
