Preview: Mountain Ridge Sentinels vs. Corner Canyon Chargers

The Mountain Ridge Sentinels will head out on the road to challenge the Corner Canyon Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mountain Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.

Last Thursday, Mountain Ridge faced Bingham in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountain Ridge fell just short of Bingham by a score of 69-67. Mountain Ridge has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Jessica Maynard put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallee Olson, who scored 15 points.

Even though Corner Canyon has not done well against Copper Hills recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Corner Canyon managed a 52-48 win over Copper Hills.

Mountain Ridge's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for Corner Canyon, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Things could have been worse for Mountain Ridge, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-43 loss to Corner Canyon in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Thankfully for Mountain Ridge, Natalie Newton (who scored 16 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
