Baseball Game Preview: Sabino Sabercats vs. Thatcher Eagles

The Sabino Sabercats will take on the Thatcher Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Sabino lost 12-1 to Mica Mountain on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Sabercats in their meetings with the Thunderbolts: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Thatcher was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Benson, falling 10-2.

Kody Bingham made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Paxton Echols was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases.

Sabino's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Thatcher, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Sabino took their win against Thatcher when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Sabercats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
