Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mt. Vernon entered their tilt with St. Edward on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Yellowjackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-104) Mt. Vernon actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 20-25, 18-25, 15-13.

St. Edward lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zach Libertosky, who had 21 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Marflak, who had 15 assists and nine digs.

Mt. Vernon now has a winning record of 11-10. As for St. Edward, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.

Coincidentally, Mt. Vernon and St. Edward will both be playing Upper Arlington the next time they take the court. The Yellowjackets will host the Golden Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
