Two dominant backs in Malik Tyler and Brayden Slaughter are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the Harlem Bulldogs and the Heritage Generals will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlem's defense has only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, so Heritage's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Two weeks ago, everything came up roses for Harlem against Cross Creek as the team secured a 40-6 win. The Bulldogs' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Harlem can attribute much of their success to Mercer Barton, who threw for 51 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 30 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Harlem was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 220 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

Harlem didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as JoVaun Napier, Joseph Clark, Jax Stadler, and Noah Cadle picked up one apiece.

Heritage never got on the board in their matchup back in October, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Adairsville last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 31-17 victory over the Tigers.

The win made it two in a row for Harlem and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points over those games. As for Heritage, their record is now 7-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Harlem has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 179.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 158.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
