Basketball Recap: Maria Carrillo Takes a Loss

After flying high against Piner two weeks ago, Maria Carrillo came back down to earth. The Maria Carrillo Pumas fell 45-38 to the Cardinal Newman Cardinals on Wednesday. The game marked the Pumas' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Maria Carrillo's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Cardinal Newman, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

Maria Carrillo will venture away from home to take on Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Montgomery knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Maria Carrillo likes a good challenge. As for Cardinal Newman, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cardinal Newman Cardinals challenge the Windsor Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
