Baseball Recap: Gross Catholic Find Success

Gross Catholic hadn't done well against Elkhorn recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cougars walked away with an 8-5 win over the Antlers. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Antlers on Friday, they had to take a 7-5 defeat.

Gross Catholic let Griff Pechar and Maddux Villamonte run wild. Pechar went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Villamonte went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Pechar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Biggs-Berger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gross Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Gross Catholic's record is now 12-6. As for Elkhorn, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gross Catholic will take on rival Mount Michael Benedictine at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Elkhorn is set to challenge their familiar foe Nebraska City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
