Softball Game Preview: Clover Blue Eagles vs. James F. Byrnes Rebels

Clover hasn't had much luck against James F. Byrnes recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blue Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Clover took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Blythewood by a score of 10-5. The Blue Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bengals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, James F. Byrnes came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with a 22-0 victory. Considering the Rebels have won 18 games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

James F. Byrnes pushed their record up to 25-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Clover, their win bumped their record up to 15-13.
