Basketball Recap: Southridge Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southridge had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 55-44 victory over the Mater Academy Charter Lions. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

O'Cien Valdes was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 17 to rack up 29 points. Another player making a difference was Deandre Hardy, who went 7 for 15 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Southridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Southridge's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Mater Academy Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.

Southridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-50 win against Coral Park on the 7th. Mater Academy Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
